Sales-n-Stats: technology

From a technological point of view Sales-n-Stats system consists of Java® application that runs on your local computer and PHP script that runs on your web server. We selected Java and PHP as key technologies for this product to ensure truly cross-platform compatibility: Java applications can be run on almost any desktop system and PHP is installed on every web hosting. Sales-n-Stats is not a server side script but software that runs on your computer with full-fledged graphical user interface.

From a functional point of view there are three main components in the Sales-and-Stats system: Data Collector, Data Center and Operator's Terminal.

Data Collector is a compact PHP script installed at the hosting where your website is located. Through a JavaScript tracker built into your site it gathers different kinds of visitors' data (information about page views, HTML forms, referrers, etc) and transfers it to the Data Center. Data Collector has its own database which enables it to accumulate information about the visitors' actions on the site if the Data Center is down for some time. That means you do not have to keep the Data Center on all the time. The data will be accumulated in the Data Collector database even if the Internet connection is broken. All information accumulated in the Data Collector goes to the Data Center as soon as it becomes available.

Data Center is a centralized warehouse for storing, processing and distributing data retrieved from Data Collector. Data Center is the heart of Sales-n-Stats system, the most complicated data processing routines are done here. It converts raw data coming form Data Collector into highly structured information like visits and actions so it could be visualized on the Site Monitor or used in reports. Data Center also manages all communication streams, taking receiving and queuing calls, as well as dispatching them to appropriate operators. Industry standard SQL databases are used as a data warehouse for storing visitors' data. Currently built in database and MySQL server are supported. Data Center is available as a standalone application only in Enterprise version. In Live Edition Data Center and Operator's Terminal are combined in one Java application.

Operator's Terminal is an integrated workplace for operator (manager, web master, analyst, or administrator). Terminal is implemented as a Java application and lacks the typical weaknesses of a web-interface. Terminal is connected to the Data Center through the network using client-server technology providing efficient collaboration environment for operators. With Enterprise Edition you can organize the work of your sales and support departments, while your web analysts and marketing experts can use this very system at the same time for their purposes.
